Gladys E. Shortsleeve

Gladys E. Shortsleeve, 66, a resident of Upper Road, passed away September 1, 2018 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Gladys was born in Gouchland, VA on November 15, 1951 the daughter of Boyd Alley and Edith Sharpe. She attended local schools, graduating from Gouchland High School. Gladys worked as a housekeeper for many area homes for many years and also worked at the former Pancake House in Manchester. She enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband, knitting, crocheting, cooking, listening to country music, taking care of people and cherished times spent with her family. Gladys is survived by her children George S. Shortsleeve and his wife Irma of Shaftsbury, Melissa Henderson and her partner Keith Jankin of South Chesterfield, VA, Diane Westhall and her partner Reno Kruger of South Burlington, VT and Katherine Shortsleeve of Rutland, brother Wayne Alley and his partner Susan of Farmville, VA, sisters Alice Gormus and her husband Ben of Dillwyn, VA, Dorothy Gammon and her husband Lendy of Mechanicsville, VA and Brenda Armstrong and partner Cindy of South Chesterfield, VA, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband George W. Shortsleeve whom she married May 9, 1981. Mr. Shortsleeve died in 2006. She was also preceded in death by her father Boyd Alley. A time of visitation for Gladys will be held Thursday September 6, 2018 from 5-7pm at Brewster-Shea Funeral Home 34 Park Place Manchester Center, VT. There are no formal funeral services.
