Gladys I. Boyd, 84 a resident of Coldbrook Road passed away peacefully on Thursday Feburary 19, 2015 at the Southwstern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. The daughter of the late Harvey K. and Esther Ruth (Stark) Carrier, she was born in Readsboro on September 17, 1930. Gladys was a 1949 graduate of Whitingham High School and married Elliott "Pickle" Boyd in Whitingham on August 29, 1952. Shortly after starting a family they relocated to Niagara Falls, where they lived for 10 years. In 1964 they moved to Anchorage, Alaska, returning to Wilmington in 1967, where they continued to raise their family. She had worked throughout her life at many local businesses, including Dunn's General Store, C & S Store, Mt. Snow, Readsboro Chair Factory and Shaw's. Gladys was very family-oriented and enjoyed family gatherings, enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crossword puzzles, and was an avid, lifelong reader. She leaves her husband "Pickle" Boyd, daughter and husband Catherine "Peanut" and Marshall Goodell, son and wife Gordon "Joe" and Deborah Boyd and son and wife Robert "Bob" and Earlene Boyd all of Wilmington, brother Wesley Carrier of Brattleborro, sisters Frances Boyd of Wilmington, Bernice Murdock of Brattleboro, Seraph Stoddard of Chesterfield, NH and Evelyn Bernard of Wilmington, grandchildren Jennifer, Craig and Tiffany, Benjamin and Kaitlynn, Chelsea, Robert and Sandy, Daniel and Lyndsay, Oliver and Mary, Cricket and Dawson, great grandchildren Brialyn, Keiron, Ethan, Ellyanna, Derek, Ryan, Hunter, Madison and Keegan. A service to remember the life of Gladys will be held at the Dover Town Hall on March 15 at 1pm with Mark Herrick officiating. A memorial reception will follow in the Town Hall. Memorial gifts may be made to the Deerfield Valley Food Pantry in care of the Covey Allen & Shea Funeral Home, P.O. Box 215, Wilmington, VT 05363. A service to remember the life of Gladys will be held at the Dover Town Hall on March 15 at 1pm with Mark Herrick officiating. A memorial reception will follow in the Town Hall
