Gordon P. “Gordy” Moore

May 23, 1963 — October 5, 2022

Gordon P. “Gordy” Moore, a longtime resident of Jacksonville, died in his sleep at home on Wednesday October 5th, 2022, at the age of 59. Born in Boston on May 23rd, 1963, Gordy was the youngest of eight children born to Fred and Esther (Allard) Moore. At a young age, the family relocated to Jacksonville. They spent countless days helping their beloved grandparents, Marion and Clyde Allard, on their farm on Allard Road. He attended Whitingham schools and graduated from Whitingham High School in 1981. He continued his education at Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. He married Pamela (Scott) at the Jacksonville Community Church on February 23rd, 1985. Being very mechanically minded, he and his brother Jeff established Moore Bros. Body and Paint in Whitingham before relocating the business to Wilmington. With their hard work, the business became extremely successful. A few years following Jeff’s sudden passing, Gordy sold the business to a longtime employee and friend, Scott Anyan. He then worked with his brother Fred at Total Fab Inc. in CT where he learned metal fabrication. Having a true talent working with metal, he established Windham Architectural Metals based in Whitingham. It was there that he could enjoy his artistic talents to design and build anything imaginable for his clients. In 2015, he and Pam purchased land in Halifax where they camped often with Pam's brother, Craig Scott and his wife Kim. A few years ago, Craig and Kim purchased land next door and became part of the neighborhood, where the four of them worked together to create the perfect place to retire to someday. Gordy enjoyed many things in life including muscle cars, playing golf, men’s league softball (go team Moore Bros.!), boating, clearing the land and running his sawmill, and he truly enjoyed working and helping others learn his trade. He leaves his wife Pamela Moore of Jacksonville, their daughter Gillian, her husband Jeff Scarpino, and grandsons Parker and Jason of West Burke, VT, their daughter Natalie, her husband Joe Joyner and grandsons George and Crosby of Salem, MA, brothers Doug Moore and wife Carol of Readsboro, VT, Fred Moore of North Haven, CT and, sisters Linda Moore of Putney, VT, and Brenda Washburn and husband Greg of Rockingham, VT, stepfather Harold Carmody of Camp Verde, AZ, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings Jeff, Pam and Greg Moore. In keeping with Gordy’s wishes, there will be no formal services. His family is hosting a celebration of life at their land in Halifax, 91 Phillips Hill Road, Halifax, VT, Saturday, October 15th at 1pm. All are welcome, look for a Facebook event for more details. Memorial gifts may be made to Deerfield Valley Rescue (formerly Whitingham Ambulance Service) and/or The Trauma Institute in care of the Covey Allen & Shea Funeral Home, P.O.
