Harold Edward De Bona, Sr (Hal) of Dorset, VT passed away peacefully on March 18, 2016 at Rutland Regional Medical Center surrounded by loved ones. Hal was 92.Hal was born on May 6, 1923 in Milwaukee, WI. He graduated from Milwaukee Country Day School. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He graduated from Northwestern University where he met and married his first wife, June Gorham.Hal excelled in both academics and athletics.Hal and June resided in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ while Hal enjoyed an accomplished career in sales and advertising in NY City.After June's death, Hal married Annette Schmidlin. They resided in Ridgewood, NJ and later, Manchester, VT.Hal married Pamela Tremper in 2000. They resided in Dorset, VT until Hal's death. He was a member of the Dorset Field Club. He enjoyed paddle tennis, golf, skiing, photography and cooking. He was a gifted writer who contributed to the editorial columns of several newspapers.Hal was featured in "The Longest Game" - an award winning documentary focused on athletics and aging. Hal's greatest love was his family. He is survived by wife Pamela of Dorset, VT, son Hal Jr (Sue) of Woodstock, VT, son Clark (Nga) of Plainfield, VT, daughter Laura De Bona of Wyckoff, NJ, daughter Nancy De Bona of Michigan, daughter Michelle Hayes (Steve) of Cos Cob, CT, daughter Elizabeth Boyle (Bruce) of Point Pleasant, NJ, and 17 grandchildren. Hal cherished and adored all of his children and his beloved grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Marion Lofreddo (Nick) and brother Robert De Bona, both of Milwaukee, WI.A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert, 143 Church Street, Dorset, VT on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 2PM.
