Harry R. Olsson, Jr, 94, passed away June 19, at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington. Harry was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 2, 1923 the son of Harry R. Olsson, Sr and Sigrid Victoria Olsson. He served in General Patton's 3rd Army in WWII as a 1st lieutenant and received the Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Following his military service, his education included a Juris Doctor in Law from Columbia University leading to careers in broadcasting at the Networks of ABC, NBC and CBS in New York City. Harry loved photography, history, opera, chess and traveling. He is survived by his sons Harry Olsson and his wife Allison and their children Rebecca, Harry and John and one great grandson, Randall Olsson and his wife Kathy and their children Eric, Rachel, Jessica and Elizabeth. A celebration of Harry's life will be held Saturday July 1, 2017 at 11am at Zion Episcopal Church in Manchester. Interment and a service with military honors will be held at a later date at Fort Logan in Colorado. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Harry's memory may be made to the Vermont Veterans Home Activities Fund, c/o Brewster-Shea Funeral Home P.O. Box 885 Manchester Center, VT.
