Harry Sheldon

Harry Calvin Sheldon (9/28/32 - 1/7/17), passed into Heaven on January 7th to reunite with his beautiful wife, Barbara Ann, who preceded him in death in 2012. He was born on September 28, 1932 to Harry and Helen Sheldon in South Dorset, Vermont. He attended the South Dorset School and earned his GED. He worked for his father before joining the Navy. After being honorably discharged on December 2, 1955 he married his loving wife Barbara Ann Bannerman on February 4, 1956 in New York City. While living in New York he worked for the Pinkerton Detective Agency. Upon returning to Vermont in 1957 they raised their family. He was a self-employed carpenter and property manager. He was Fire Chief of Dorset, a Forest Fire Warden and served on the Dorset Select Board. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Manchester and a lifetime member of the VFW. He owned and operated the Dorset Garden Market with his wife starting in the early 1980's. He is survived by two daughters, Deborah Niles and Mary Ann Webb and their families; three sons, Daniel, Christopher and Gregory and their families; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, John and Timothy Sheldon of Dorset and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers. At his request, a private service was held.
