Helen Blanchard Strobridge

Helen Blanchard Strobridge 88, a resident of Barber Pond Road passed away Sunday June 21,2015 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Helen was born in Pownal on July 12, 1926, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Caroline Ada (Knapp) Blanchard. She grew up in Pownal where she attended elementary school, she later attended Bennington High School and graduated from Mt. Greylock Union High School in Williamstown (MA). She attended the Nursing Cadet Corps in St. Johnsbury where she earned her nursing degree, she had practiced at St. Johnsbury Hospital. She married Norman Strobridge on February 21, 1946, he died November 11, 2005. For over 30 years Helen worked along side her husband, Norm at the Strobridge Nationwide Insurance Agency in Bennington. She was a member of The Pownal Community Club, Bennington Business and Professional Women's Club and Pownal American Legion Post 90 Auxiliary. A seasoned worldwide traveler, Helen traveled extensively with her husband and later with her daughter Donna and daughter in law Suzanne . She enjoyed completing word puzzles, reading, crocheting and tending to her gardens and plants. She leaves her daughter Donna Ianni of Pownal, daughter in law Suzanne Caraman of Pownal, sister Betty B. Kaszuba of Middlebury, nephew William F. Brownell and wife Verna of Lincoln, NB, sister in law Margaret Strobridge of Milton, 2nd cousin Paul Knapp of Connecticut, nephews Daniel Strobridge and wife Luella, Steven Strobridge and wife Carol, Roger Strobridge and wife Vicki and Peter Strobridge and wife Christina, numerous grand nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her son Alan R. Strobridge on June 15, 2002. The family will have private services for Helen, she will be laid to rest with her husband and son in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
