Helen Judge

d. December 3, 2015

Helen Louise Judge, a resident of Manchester Center, died suddenly on December 3rd. Helen was born in Wilkes Barre, PA on February 6, 1944, the oldest child of John Smith and Helen (Bieniek). She received her education in Pennsylvania and in New York City. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing in 1965. She married her lifelong love, Thomas Judge, on July 10, 1965 in New York City. During their long and happy life together they resided in New York City and New Jersey before moving to Manchester Center in 1979. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in July of this year. Helen cherished her Register Nurse identity which she regarded as more of an avocation than a mere credential. Following her return to nursing, Helen worked as a geriatric nurse in nursing homes in both Rutland and Bennington Vermont. She most recently was a floor nurse at Bennington Health & Rehab in Bennington Vermont. She prided herself in being a patient advocate and was widely recognized as such by both her fellow nursing staff and by resident families. Helen loved to travel. She and Tom always looked forward to seeing and experiencing new places. She was very proud of her family. She is survived by her husband, Tom, her sons, Thomas James Jr., Joseph and Sean, her grandchildren, Brianna, Alex, Liam, Seamus and Michael, and her sister, Diane, of Enola, PA and her mother, Helen, and brother, Larry, of Tempe, AZ. Another brother, Jonathan, predeceased her. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Should friends desire memorial contributions in Helen's memory may be made to the Vermont Food Bank or to a local Humane Society.
