Henry G. St Hilaire , 88 a resident of Main Street passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday morning May 30, 2021 in the company of his loving family. The son of Armand and Anilda (Dugay) St. Hilaire, he was born in Adams, Massachusetts on May 14, 1933. He grew up in Adams and was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in North Adams , Class of 1952. He had served the catholic faith during his youth as an altar boy at Notre Dame Parish in Adams. Henry was a proud veteran of the United States Army , having completed two tours in Greenland where he was assigned to the research facility. He married the “love of his life” , Loretta Hurley, together they enjoyed 53 years of a wonderful marriage, he faithfully took excellent care of her during her illness until she died on September 26, 2011. For 50 years he had worked in the dairy and frozen food department at area grocery stores including Adams Supermarket and Big-Y retiring as department manager . Henry was an accomplished oil and water color painter completing many works of art in his lifetime, he also enjoyed leatherwork which he shared with friends and family. He spent many hours building detailed model airplanes and train sets. He leaves his loving daughter Constance A. Wheeler of Pownal, his good friend Ken O’Dell of Pownal, grandchildren Penny Pratt, Joshua Pratt, Jason Pratt, Sara Pratt, Christopher Burdick and Jennifer Burdick, Joyce Wolfington, Loretta Colegrove, Cindy Colegrove, Jeffrey Colegrove Jr. and Christa Colegrove as well as many great grandchildren. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday June 4 at 11am from Sacred Heart St. Francis DeSales Church , burial with Military Honors will follow in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation on Thursday from 4-6 pm at the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home .
