Jane E. (Cross) Lackey

Jane E. (Cross) Lackey , age 82, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida died May 11, 2015. Jane was born and raised in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School. She married Harold (John) Lackey Jr. , they relocated to Florida in 2001 after living in Worcester and Montpelier , VT for many years. She worked for National Life Insurance Company in Montpelier for 20 years.They enjoyed traveling and had visited most of the states and Canadian Provinces including two trips to Alaska. They particularly enjoyed the western states and took a motorcycle trip from Vermont to California in the 1980's. Jane enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing and spending time with her family. In her late 70's she even tried skydiving in Florida and zip-lining through the jungle in Central America.Jane is survived by her husband John of New Smyrna Beach, two sons, Glenn Lackey of Georgetown, Idaho and Jay Lackey of Berlin, Vermont, three Grandsons, a brother Leland of Loyalton, California and a sister Linda of Indianapolis, Indiana. Jane was predeceased by her parents Leroy and Alice Cross, a brother Myron Cross and a sister Ada Hildreth, all of Wilmington, Vermont.Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday April 30 at 11:30 am at the family lot in Riverview Cemetery in Wilmington.
