Jay Anthony Canedy, 71, a resident of Route 9 East, passed away Monday December 4, 2017 at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington. Jay was born in Brattleboro, VT on December 30, 1945 the son of the late Jean and Mary Jane (Stewart) Canedy. He received his education in Wilmington schools graduating from Wilmington High School. Jay was a small engine repairman for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Viet-Nam and Germany and was member of the NRA. He enjoyed his time in Germany, was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He learned photography in New Jersey, and had a collection of cameras and civil war books. He thoroughly enjoyed his time in the Southwest and dancing to his favorite music, classic rock and roll. He is survived by his sister Deborah Canedy of Wilmington, nephews Mark Wetherby of Knoxville, TN and Ethan Wetherby of Vernon, VT and aunts, uncles and cousins. Graveside funeral services for Jay with military honors, will be held Saturday December 9, 2017 at 10am at Riverview Cemetery in Wilmington. There are no visiting hours. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Jay's memory may be made to the Vermont Veterans Home Activities Fund, c/o Covey-Allen & Shea Funeral Home P.O. Box 215 Wilmington, VT 05363. Graveside funeral services for Jay with military honors, will be held Saturday December 9, 2017 at 10am at Riverview Cemetery in Wilmington. There are no visiting hours.
