Jean M. Knapp

Jean M. Knapp, 92 of Arlington VT., formerly of Beacon, NY, passed away at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, Bennington, VT, on September 14, 2023. Born in Mount Kisco, NY on November 14, 1930, she was the daughter of George and Myrtle (Tompkins) Maynard. She graduated from Beacon High School in 1947 and attended Brandeis University. She worked in The Evening News business office in Beacon and Knapp Paint Shop. On July 19, 1953, she married David L. Knapp in Beacon, NY. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary for more than 50 years as well as Melzingah Chapter of the DAR for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, David M. Knapp; her son-in-law, Peter J. Damelio. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah K. Damelio, Beacon, NY; Martha (Delos III) Rifenburgh, Beacon, NY, Johanna James, Poughkeepsie; her sons, George M. (Nancy) Knapp, Magnolia, DE; Kimble M. Knapp, Arlington, VT; 14 Grandchildren and 10 Great-Grandchildren; and nephew, David K. Hurxthal, Palm Bay, FL. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of life will take place at Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home on October 7, 2023 at 4pm. A time of fellowship and refreshments will immediately follow the service at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held October 9, 2023 at 11am at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Rte 9, Fishkill, NY.
