Jerold E. Clayton

Jerold E. Clayton, 85, a resident of Bank Street in North Bennington, passed away October 3, 2022 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Jerold was born in East Dorset, VT on July 10, 1937 the son of the late Edwin Lorenzo and Irene May (Hazelton) Clayton and attended local schools. Jerold worked as a steering Column Technician for NASTECH for many years and was a United States Air Force veteran. He was very interested in Civil War history, loved golfing and was an avid New York Yankees fan. He loved animals and was a devoted family man. Jerold is survived by his wife Jean (Thomas) Clayton of North Bennington whom he married April 20, 1963, children Timothy Clayton (Christine) of Virginia, Elaine Clayton of North Bennington, Jerold Clayton, Jr. of Islip Terrace, NY, Denise Zimmer (Jonathan) of Outer Banks, NC and Steve Clayton (Lauren) of Hoosick falls, NY, grandchildren Heather, Amanda, Briana, Gabriel, Jonathan, Gwen, Todd, Macinley and Sean and 4 great grandchildren and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by all his 7 siblings. Graveside services for Jerold will be held in Evergreen Cemetery in Arlington and will be announced at a later date.
