Jerry S. Coleman 67 a longtime resident of Manchester, VT died suddenly Monday, February 8th with his family at his bedside at Albany Medical Center from an injury from a fall on Sunday. He was born in Jamaica, VT on December 16, 1947 the son of Erald Coleman and Leo Charbonneau. Jerry graduated from Leland and Gray High School in Townshend VT and went on to graduate from Benjamin Franklin Institute in Boston where he studied mechanics. He joined the Navy in 1968 and was in the Seabees and was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. He was married to Ramona Smith in 1969 in Jamaica VT. Jerry worked as a surveyor for 10 years for Dauchy Creamer Associates in Jamaica VT. He loved geography and maps and enjoyed his years as a surveyor. Most people remember Jerry for his over 25 years managing Leo's Motors in Manchester VT. With Jerry in charge and his wife at his side, Leo's was much more than an auto dealer and general store. His hospitality made Leo's a popular meeting spot where locales could relax and catch up on town happenings and social gossip! In his free time, Jerry enjoyed talking politics with friends and socializing with the community. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and the days and nights spent at deer camp. He loved snowmobiling and new all the local trails. Jerry loved animals and learning all about their habits on the TV and websites. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a good friend to all. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Jerry is survived by his son, Josh Coleman of Manchester, his daughter, Camille Coleman Gunther of Manchester, two grandchildren, his step-brothers, Bruce and Richard Charbonneau of Manchester. A celebration of life will be held this Saturday, February 13, from 1 to 5 pm at the Manchester VFW Post. A time of fellowship and refreshment will follow. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to either the Manchester VFW post 4479 or the Vermont Institute of Natural Science (Checks made out to V.I.N.S) Care of Camille Gunther, PO Box 1104, Manchester Center , VT 05255 A celebration of life will be held this Saturday, February 13, from 1 to 5 pm at the Manchester VFW Post. A time of fellowship and refreshment will follow.
