Jo Anne O'Brien of Bondville, VT., born July 16, 1925, beloved wife of Tom O'Brien, daughter of Clyde and Edna Doney of Danville, IL., died surrounded by her loving family on January 11 at Brookdale at Fillmore Pond Senior Living Center in Bennington, Vermont. She passed peacefully. After marrying Tom in 1947, they left Danville so that Tom could attend Rose Polytechnic Institute in Terre Haute, IN. Upon Tom's graduation in 1951, they moved to Texas City, Texas with their two young sons. They lived in Texas City with their 5 children until 1963 when Tom was transferred to the New York offices of Union Carbide where he was a structural engineer. They settled in Stamford CT. In Stamford Jo Anne was very active in the Roxbury Community Church. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels at Courtland Gardens. In 1981 Tom and Jo Anne moved to Luling , LA., where they lived until 1988 when they retired to Golf Shores, AL. In 1994 they moved to Bondville, VT., where Jo Anne, who had always been an avid Bridge player, enjoyed many days playing bridge with her friends. Jo Anne was a member of the Church of Christ Scientist of Brattleboro, VT. Jo Anne was predeceased by her husband Tom of 62 years, her eldest son Michael of Conway, SC., and her brother Jack Doney of Florida. She is survived by 4 of her children and spouses: Timothy and Rosalind O'Brien of Bristol, CT.; Jo Eileen and James Cummings of Trumbull, CT.; Jean and Jeff Yates of Bethel, CT.; and John O'Brien of Albuquerque, NM. Jo Anne is also survived by seven Grand Children: Jennifer Vettoretti, Kevin O'Brien, Matthew Cummings, Christopher O'Brien, Caitlin Cardano, Robert O'Brien, and Julia Yates as well as 11 Great Grand Children. She is also survived by her daughter in law Nina O'Brien of Conway, SC., her sister in law Eveyn Doney of Florida and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any charity in her name. Arrangements are being made by Brewster Funeral Services of Manchester, VT. Jo Anne will be greatly missed. At the family's request, no services will be held at this time
