Joan Ann Knapp, 81 a longtime resident of Gage Street passed away peacefully at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, New York on Friday morning November 15, 2019. The daughter of Charles and Gladys (Barber) Batease she was born in Bennington on September 9, 1938. She grew up in North Bennington where she attended local schools including North Bennington High School. For 38 years she had worked at Tansitor Electronics (now Vishay) , she also worked for Callanan Courier for ten years. Joan was a member of the Moose Family Center, Fraternal Order of Eagles and American Legion Auxiliary Post 13. She leaves her husband Herbert Knapp whom she married in Bennington on July 22, 1977, sons Richard Knapp of Phoenix, Arizona and William Overlook Jr. of Bradenton, Florida, daughters Darcy Loomis of North Bennington and Karen Overlook of Bradenton, Florida, step children Amy Susan Knapp, Herbert Charles Knapp and Constance Ellen Knapp, many grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews including Doug Holly, Pamela Holly and Susan Holly. She also leaves her brother and sister in laws Kay and Gary Daigneault of Bennington, Hazel and Earl Callanan of California, Patricia and Gary Houran of Bennington and Bevery and John Rowe of New York. She was predeceased by her daughter Dawn Marie Harrington-Bossong who died February 5, 2019 , a brother Charles Batease Jr. ,a sister Gladys Holly and sister and brother in law Dorothy and Howard Hewson.
