Joe Mount

Joe Horn Mount, 82 Born December 18, 1935 in Tampa, Florida Died April 13, 2018 in Bennington, Vermont He is survived by Jan McDonald Mount, his wife of 61 years, five children, Melinda Mount, Jeffrey Mount, Bonnie Jo Mount, Michael Mount, Sarah Mount, and five Grandchildren, Megan Mount, Oliver Mount, Lucy Mount, Sam Mount, and Francesca Mount. He was predeceased by his mother Marjorie Coggins Wright who co-founded the Wright Gourmet House in Tampa, Florida and by his brother, David "Skip" Mount who was a law enforcement officer. During the late 1940's he enlisted in the Florida National Guard and then the U.S. Army in 1954. A self-described high school dropout who married a lawyer's daughter and became a lawyer himself. Joe, with the support and encouragement of his family and friends, graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1961. He practiced law in diverse legal fields for over fifty years, many of them as a private, federal, or county attorney in Florida before moving to Manchester, Vermont. He was a member of the Florida Bar for over fifty years. At the time of his death he had retired from the Immigration & Customs Enforcement Bureau of the Department of Homeland Security in Williston, Vermont. Joe believed he had experienced more than his share of good fortune and was blessed with supportive and inspiring family and friends. He was laid to rest in a green burial on April 14, 2018 at Dellwood Cemetery, Manchester, Vermont. And so it goes.
