Joseph Winter, 86, a resident of Route 112, passed away March 1, 2018 at his home. Joseph was born in Altoona, PA on April 24, 1931 the son of the late Joseph and Julia Stephenson Winter and attended Altoona schools. Joseph worked for General Electric in Pittsfield, MA as an Electrical Engineer for many years. Upon retirement he owned and operated the Little Drummer Boy for 5 years and then the Jacksonville Tavern. He was President of the Jacksonville Electric Company for 15 years, was a 32nd Degree Mason in Brattleboro, VT and a member of the Cairo Shrine, American Legion, Lions Club, VFW and the Couples Club. He enjoyed running his businesses, had a booth at the flea market for his plants and vegetables for 20 years and was a season ticket holder at Tanglewood in the Berkshires. Joseph is survived by his children Sharon Berry and her husband Brett of Jacksonville and Mindi Winter of Easthampton, MA, grandchildren Brett, Jay, Trevor, Blake and Kate. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Huntsburger Winter who died in 2013, son Joe Winter who died in 1996 and daughter Jacki Costigan who died in 2012. Funeral services for Joseph will be announced at a later date. There are no visiting hours. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Joseph's memory may be made to the Shriner's Hospital, c/o Covey-Allen & Shea Funeral Home P.O. Box 215 Wilmingtom, VT 05363.
