Joyce B. Boyd

Joyce B. Boyd 84 a lifelong resident of Wilmington passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday December 8, 2020. The daughter of the late Ralph and Maude (Temple) Canedy, she was born in Wilmington on November 6, 1936. Joyce grew up in Wilmington where she graduated from Wilmington High School. She married Ernest Boyd in Wilmington on September 23, 1950, he passed away on September 26, 1988. She had assisted her husband in the operation of his trucking business and had been a school bus driver for local children for 20 years. In later years she had worked part time at Taddingers where she would often dress up as Santa Claus during the holiday season. She also volunteered her time at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. Joyce enjoyed the company of her family, especially her grandchildren, she loved her Town and sitting on her porch where she could watch all the activity, she also enjoyed gardening. She leaves her son Craig M. Boyd and wife Rose of Springfield, MA, daughters Gloria J. Flintrop of South Burlington and Wendy S. Boyd of Rutland, grandchildren Alex (Morena), Sam, Susan (Chris) and Sarah, great grandchildren Ava, Annalise, Jack, Gillian, Brody and Genavieve as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predecease by her sons Patrick M. Boyd in 1982 and Gary D. Boyd in 1977, her sister Evelyn Greene in 2020, her brothers Jean Canedy in 2007 and Craig Canedy. Her granddaughter, Susan, would like to say that she was a wonderful woman with great strengths, a cheerful spirit and a kind loving heart. The love and care that she gave to her family will be cherished forever. Graveside services will be held at the family lot in Riverview Cemetery in the spring and will be announced at that time.
