Judith Anne Geriak

Judith Anne Geriak, 80, of Manchester Center, VT, passed away at home on January 29, 2021. Judy was born November 5, 1940 to Harvey G. and Hazel P. Turner in Morrisville, VT. She moved to Teaneck, NJ when her father returned from World War II and received her early education there. She played the clarinet in the Teaneck adult band as a junior high school student. In 1955, her family moved to Stamford, CT and Judy graduated from Stamford High School in 1958. She then went on to Vermont College where she earned an associates degree in 1960. After graduation, she worked for Hilti Fasteners in Stamford. In 1964, she married Stephen Geriak, Jr., going on to have three children. The family moved to Danbury, CT in 1970. Judy served as a den mother for the Cub Scouts during this time. She moved again with her family to Manchester, VT in 1977 to own and operate the Stamford Motel and Yarn Shop until retiring in 2005. Here, Judy was involved in the BPW, played in the First Congregational Church bell choir, and was a Girl Scout leader. She was accomplished at sewing, knitting, needlework and gardening. Judy loved playing golf and was a longtime member of Manchester Country Club. She was proud of her two holes-in-one, both occurring in tournaments. She enjoyed traveling all over Vermont with her good friend, Joan Rizio, to play most of the courses in the state. Judy is survived by her husband of 56 years, Stephen Geriak, Jr.; her three children, Stephen Geriak III (Carla Pacas), Karen Geriak (Adam Dworkin) and Susan French (Jon French); her three granddaughters, Isabella and Hannah Dworkin and Raven French; her brother William Turner (June) of East Haven, CT; and many nieces and nephews.
