Julie Martin Hanes, 56, a resident of Shepards Lane, passed away Wednesday January 27, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Julie was born in Selma, Alabama on May 11, 1959 the daughter of David and Nancy (Corr) Martin and attended Morgan Academy in Selma, Alabama. Upon graduating from Converse College, besides raising her children, Julie worked for an interior designer at an architectural firm and Toy Classics in Winston Salem, NC and had her North Carolina Real Estate license. She was also a very active member of the local Junior League. After moving to Vermont, for over twelve years she owned and operated along with her husband Frank and their family, The Inn at Manchester. Julie was a member of the Design Review Board in Manchester Village. She enjoyed golfing and was an avid reader. She enjoyed traveling, listening to a broad range of music and loved following Duke and Alabama sports. Julie is survived by her husband Phillip Franklin "Frank" Hanes, III of Manchester Village whom she married in Selma, Alabama on August 22, 1981, her children Phillip Franklin "Frank" Hanes, IV , Nancy Hanes Ess and her husband Joel and Alice Hanes Jennings and her husband Brock all of Manchester, brothers Mark Martin and his wife P.J. of Blowing Rock, NC, David Martin and his wife Monique of Mobile, Alabama and Jimbo Martin and his wife Judy also of Mobile, Alabama, sister Nancy Martin of Frederick, Maryland, granddaughter Bentley Jennings and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Most of all she was a great mom and wife who cherished times spent with her family. BFME A celebration of Life for Julie will be held Saturday January 30, 2016 at 2:30pm at Zion Episcopal Church in Manchester Center, Vermont. There are no visiting hours.
