Julie Haynes Held, 51, passed away peacefully at her home on Northwest Hill, Pownal on Monday morning, April 6, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Julie was born in Bennington on March 2, 1969 to the late William C. Haynes and Jean Watt Haynes. She grew up in Bennington attending local schools and was a graduate of Mt. Anthony Union High School, Class of 1987. She continued her education at Siena College where she earned her bachelor’s degree in political science. Julie married Kenneth Held at Sacred Heart St. Francis De Sales Church on September 14, 1991. Throughout her life she was always involved in helping others. She worked in human resources, social services, education and was a recruiter at United Counseling Services, Human Resources at SVMC, Program Director and Infant Room Teacher at Oak Hill Children’s Center. In addition to following her children’s activities, she spent much of her time fundraising for UCS and the SVMC Cancer Center. She leaves her husband Kenneth Held of Pownal, mother Jean Haynes of Bennington, mother and father in law Joyce and Kenneth Held of Pownal; three children that she loved very much and was proud of, Alexander Held and wife McKalyn of Bennington, Emily Held of Pownal, and Megan Held of Millburn, NJ; sister in law Kimberly Mulcahy and husband Thomas of Cheshire, MA; nephew Kevin, and niece Colleen; step grandchildren Kaydence, Ryan, and Kenzie Almy; her close cousins Krystal Franklin of Las Vegas and Amy Castle of Bennington; half brothers Joshua Haynes and husband Scott of Berlin, Germany, Clinton Haynes of Vail, CO, and Colton Haynes of Los Angeles, CA; step sisters Willow Mitchell of San Francisco, CA and Summer Benedict of Benton, AR; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Due to the current COVID-19 situation, a time to honor Julie’s life will be held at a later date. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers in the days and weeks ahead.
