Kenneth E. Nicholson, 82, a resident of Carbonti Circle, passed away Monday March 21, 2022 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Ken was born in Flint, Michigan on January 10, 1940 the son of the late Elmer A. and Katie May (Holder) Nicholson, attending local schools, Harding College and Temple University. Ken was an educator for over 40 years and taught Science at Arlington Memorial High School with many student hikes in the Battenkill Valley and adventure trips to Cape Cod, the Grand Canyon, and St John. He was a member of the Bennington Church of Christ from 1965 and served as an elder in the church for 38 years. He entered the Peace Corps, volunteering in St Lucia and Bulgaria. He was a member of the Arlington Community Club, the National Biology Teachers Association and was on the Arlington Planning Commission. He was a local naturalist and community supporter—loving gardening, travelling, hiking, back-country skiing, and Arlington athletics. He enjoyed making apple cider and pressing grapes. Ken is survived by his wife June (Daniels) Nicholson of Arlington, sons Jeffrey Nicholson and his wife Dayna and their son Wyatt of Culver City, California and Daren Nicholson and his wife Jamie of Lebanon, Tennessee, and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of the life of Kenneth E. Nicholson will be held Saturday April 23, 2022 at 2 pm at the Federated Church of East Arlington. A time of visitation will be held prior to the service from noon to 2 pm. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Arlington. The family invites all to gather at Bailey Hall afterward to share a meal.
