Leroy N. Morse, 71, a resident of North Road, passed away Tuesday September 20, 2016 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Leroy was born in Sunderland on January 6, 1945 the son of the late Ralph Morse, Sr. and Mary Johnson. Leroy worked as a logger and a heavy equipment operator for many years, was a former Road Foreman for the Town of Sunderland and former volunteer firefighter for Arington for many years. Leroy enjoyed horse and pony pulls, hunting and fishing. He loved to build roads in the woods with his bulldozer and sugaring. He enjoyed listening to country music, especially Ricky Scaggs and cherished times spent with his family. Leroy is survived by his children Scott Morse (Michelle) of Sunderland, Melissa Danio (Shawn), Laurie Troumbley (Charlie) and Lea Morse all of Sunderland and Cindy Root of Springfield, VT, a special son-in-law whom he thought of as a son Mark Stroffoleno of Greenville, NY, 14 brothers and sisters, 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Joan Kennedy Morse whom he married July 19, 1969 in Arlington, VT. Mrs. Morse passed away December 17, 2015. A celebration of the life of Leroy N. Morse will be held Monday afternoon September 26, 2016 at 1pm at the American Legion Post 69 Arlington. There are no visiting hours. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Leroy's memory may be made to the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center Patient Resource Fund, c/o Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral P.O.
