Linda A. Hoffman

April 24, 1943 — April 5, 2024

ARLINGTON-

Linda A. Hoffman passed away on April 5th, 2024 at the age of 80. She was born in Bennington, VT on April 24th, 1943, the daughter of Doris and George Wright of River Road in West Arlington, VT. She had many cherished memories of time spent on the nearby farm of her maternal grandparents, Sidney and Rena Crofut.

Linda began her education in first grade at the one-room schoolhouse by the West Arlington Covered Bridge. She met her future husband there when his family moved nearby. She graduated from Arlington High School, Class of 1961, where she played several sports, sang in the choir, and was co-editor of the school newspaper. This enabled her to attend seminars at Columbia University in New York City.

Linda earned her associates degree from St. Joseph Business College in Bennington, Class of 1963. That same week on June 22nd, she married Daniel R. Hoffman at the West Arlington Methodist Church. He was the son of Clarisse and Clarence R. Hoffman of North Miami, FL. Soon after the wedding, Dan and Linda moved to No. Miami where she worked for Buy Mail Inc. They returned to VT several months later.

Linda was a stay-at-home mom after the birth of her three children, eventually going to work at the Ramada Inn in Bennington. In 1986, she went to work at Paulin, Inc. in Shaftsbury, where she stayed for twenty-two years, retiring in 2008 to travel with her husband in his transporting business.

She enjoyed working for Art and Betty Paulin and meeting the people of Shaftsbury. Following many family members, Linda joined the Battenkill Grange #487 when she was in high school. She held many offices and also became a member of Pomona and State Granges. Battenkill Grange promoted the dances on the Green, when Linda spent her Saturday nights square dancing. Dan and Linda owned several dirt race cars through the years, racing at area tracks and in Quebec. They met so many nice people and lasting friendships through traveling, racing and camping in their 5th wheel RV.

Linda loved to relax by the ocean and eat seafood, especially in Maine. She also loved being at home reading, listening to her favorite music or watching Nascar and other sports on TV.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel of 60 years, daughter Laurie Morgan and Lisa Ramos (David), all of Salem, NY and a son, David (Carla) of East Arlington, VT and one very special grandson, Connor Chilson, of Salem, NY. Two sisters, Beverly Zimmer (Mike), of West Arlington, VT and Franklin, TN and Deborah Quick (Mike) of North Petersburg, NY. One brother, Gregory Wright (Janice) of Bennington, VT. And of course, her beloved goldendoodle, Raina. Also several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the West Arlington Grange Pavillion on May 18th 2024 at 12pm. Following the service, Linda will be taken down River Road one last time before being placed at rest in the family lot in the West Arlington Cemetery. Immediately following the burial, friends and family are invited back to the pavilion for a Celebration of Linda’s life where there will be light refreshments.

Should friends desire, memorial donations in honor of Linda may be made to the Arlington Fire Department or Arlington Rescue Squad c/o Hanson Walbridge and Shea Arlington Chapel P.O. Box 528 Arlington, VT 05250
