Lois Ann Ostrander

Lois Ann Ostrander 74 a resident of Shaftsbury passed away peacefully in Bennington on Saturday November 21, 2015 following a period of declining health. Lois was born in Bennington on November 6, 1941, she was the only child born to Arthur and Mary (Janicelli) Vigneau. She attended local schools, graduating from Bennington Catholic High School in 1959. She married Walter H. Ostrander Jr. in Bennington on October 30, 1964 , they recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. Lois had worked in various local business throughout her life. A very artistic woman, she enjoyed pottery, crocheting and was an accomplished painter. She also loved caring for her cats, often taking in strays and tending to her garden. She will be remembered for her great personality and sense of humor, everybody loved her and it was often said that- "she would light up a room when she walked in". Lois leaves her husband Walter of Shaftsbury , sons Walter "Duffy" Ostrander III and wife Terri and James Ostrander and significant other Eleanor Kearney , daughter Mary Ostrander-Crawford and husband Steve, four granddaughters Olivia Ostrander and fiance Jason Smith, Emily Ostrander, Joni Wells and Alexandra Szabo and a great grandson Maxx Coulter. In keeping with Lois' wishes no services will be held. Memorial gifts may be made to either the National Lymphedema Network or American Heart Association in care of the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home, 213 West Main Street, Bennington, VT.
