Louise H. Keene, 96, died peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday February 4, 2015 at her home in Manchester. She was the daughter of Charles and Erna Helmer Haldiman. She attended schools in Manchester and graduated from Burr & Burton Seminary in 1935. After graduation she went to Florida with the Hawley family where she attended secretarial school in St. Petersburg, Florida. She later married Frederick Wilson and together they owned a gift shop. After his death, she moved to New York City and worked many years for Constance Bannister (one of the outstanding baby photographers in the country). There she met George Keene whom she married in 1959 and they later moved to St. Petersburg, Florida where she worked for twenty years with H & R Block. When she retired from H & R Block she continued with her own tax business. Her husband died in 2000 and Louise moved to Manchester, Vermont and lived with her daughter Diana and sister Ethel H. Nichols. In later years she enjoyed reading, bird watching, jigsaw puzzles and visiting with friends. She also enjoyed having beautiful flowers around. Louise is survived by her daughter Diana L. Wilson of Manchester. She was predeceased by her husband George Keene, brother Frank Haldiman and sisters Gertrude Haldiman and Ethel Nichols. A calling hour will precede her funeral service at the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert on Tuesday February 10, 2015 at 1pm. Services will immediately follow at 2pm with Rev. Dr. James H. Gray, Pastor of the church officiating. Burial will be in Dellwood Cemetery in the spring. Friends and family are invited to a reception at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Louise's memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Manchester Health Services c/o Brewster & Shea Funeral Service P.O. Box 885 Manchester Center, Vermont 05255. Diana wants to thank three very special caregivers who so lovingly cared for her mother. Sadie Sargent, Theda Farrell and Betty Hazelton. Louise was a very special lady who will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
