Madeleine A. Fitzgerald

Madeleine A. Fitzgerald, 86, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 14, 2015 in Bennington with her family at her side.She was born in West Orange, NJ. She received her education in the catholic schools, graduating from Our Lady of the Valley High School. She married George A. Fitzgerald in West Orange in 1948, who predeceased her in 1992. In 1956 she and her husband moved to Bricktown, NJ. She had been a homemaker most of her life raising her five children. In 1987, they moved to Rupert, VT. Mrs. Fitzgerald enjoyed quilting which in later years led her to open her own shop, Pot O' Gold quilt shop in Rupert. She also enjoyed spending time with family, listening to music, and reading. She attended the SSPX North American Martyrs Roman Catholic Chapel in Hudson Falls, NY. She leaves her son, George P. (Candy) Fitzgerald of Virginia Beach, VA, daughters; Nancy (Don) Batzel of Manchester Center, VT, Barbara (Don) Nickerson of Point Pleasant, NJ, Mary Beth (Jeffrey) Springett of Newark, NY and Roberta (Bruce) Ciancia of Monroe Twp, NJ, 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, March 18 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home, 213 West Main St., Bennington. All invited to stay after the mass to spend time with family and friends. Burial will take place at a later date in the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Granville, NY. In lieu of flowers, please have masses said for the repose of her soul at either SSPX North American Martyrs Chapel 100 Boulevard, Hudson Falls, NY 12839 or Immaculate Heart Seminary, PO Box 56, Round Top, NY 12473. Memorial gifts may be made to Daughters of Mary at St. Joseph's Novitiate, PO Box 205, Round Top, NY 12473.
