Margaret H. Crawford, 86 a resident of Gore Road passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday November 18, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born in Troy, Ohio on November 30, 1928, she was the daughter of the late George T. and Florence A. (Spraual) Heater. She grew up in Ohio where she graduated High School. As a young girl, she would often make summer visits to her relatives homes in the Bennington area , she met her husband Frederick Crawford during these visits and they were married at the First United Methodist Church on October 19, 1950, Fred passed away in 1975. In earlier years she had worked at Fishman's Department Store and Thompson Manufacturing , she later worked at Snow lake Lodge at Mt. Snow and retired from Stanley Tools after several years there. Margaret was a devoted member of the Shaftsbury United Methodist Church, The United Methodist Women and had for several years made dolls and clowns for the hospital to distribute to young children through the Bennington Senior Center. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and loved working on crossword puzzles. She leaves her companion Erwin Mattison of Bennington, son Fred and wife Ellen Crawford of Arlington, their children; Charlie and Carolyn, daughter Cynthia and husband Jeffrey Gauthier of Bennington, their children; Jeffrey, Jonathan and Jill, and daughter Terry Parsons and companion Ira Knapp of Wardsboro, their children; Greg, Jason, Brandi, Stephen and Shawn , great grandchildren Ariel, Brydee, Leland, Triton, Nicholas, Trinity, Brandon, Colin and Chase, great great grandchildren Zayden and Julien, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers George, Charles and David Heater. Funeral services will be held at the Shaftsbury United Methodist Church on Monday November 23 at 11am, burial will follow in the family lot in Center Shaftsbury Cemetery. There will be a memorial reception at the church following the committal service, where everyone is asked to bring a dish to share. Friends may call at the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-5pm when the family will be present. Memorial gifts may be made to The American Bible Society in care of the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home, 213 West Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201. Funeral services will be held at the Shaftsbury United Methodist Church on Monday November 23 at 11am, burial will follow in the family lot in Center Shaftsbury Cemetery.
