Marie T. Canavan, 82, a resident of Fort Myers, FL and most recently Bennington, passed away October 8, 2018 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation. Marie was born in Boston, MA on December 27, 1935 the daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Blanchard) Mullen. She attended school in Boston, receiving her undergraduate degree from Northeastern University and her Masters from Boston College. Marie worked as a salesperson for Sears and Roebuck for 15 years. She previously worked as a social worker, Catholic Charities in White Plains, NY and provided adoption services. She enjoyed making crafts, needlework, knitting and was a prolific reader. She tended to her beautiful gardens and was a former cub scout and girl scout leader. She was a room mother for her children's classrooms at school and loved baking cookies. Most of all she was a dedicated wife and mother who cherished times spent with her family. Marie is survived by her husband Paul Canavan whom, she married on September 2, 1962 in Whit Plains, NY, children, Laura Marchese and her husband Eric of Arlington, VT and David Canavan of Forney, TX, sister Yvonne Mullen of Amherst, MA and grandchildren Lorraine, Annie and Regina. Funeral services for Marie will be announced at a later date. There are no visiting hours.
