Marie W. Cushing

Marie W. Cushing, 91 a resident of North Bennington passed away peacefully on Friday February 3, 2017 at Fairwinds Residential Care Home in North Bennington.Marie was born in Laconia, NH on August 18, 1925 , she was the daughter of Lodore J. Denis and Elizabeth (Guay) Denis. She grew up in New Hampshire where she graduated from Concord High School, Class of 1944. Marie was married to Keith Cushing on August 21, 1946 in Concord , immediately following their marriage, Keith was sent to Korea where he served as a signalman for just over a year. Upon his return they began raising a family and had lived in Beverly, Ma, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Houston before retiring to Arlington in 1984. Keith passed away on July 5, 1992. In earlier years , Marie had worked at the New Hampshire Department of Motor Vehicles in Concord. She was an active member of The Federated Church of East Arlington where she served as secretary and corresponding secretary for the Enterprise Society , two terms as church Deacon and a member of Church Women United . She served as a board member of RAHC and enjoyed bird watching and gardening. However, her main enjoyment in life came from her family and the 42 years they spent at their camp at Suncook Lake, NH. She leaves her son Kevin Cushing and wife Cindy of Charleston, WV, daughters Debbie Jennings and husband Ron of Shaftsbury and Denise Zeron and husband Stephen of Elkton, MD, grandchildren Dennis Jennings, Joseph and Karyn Jennings, Elizabeth and Paul Compton, Joshua Zeron, Linsey and Bryan Shaffer, and Scott Cushing, great grandchildren Ali, Riley, Avery, Logan, Ellie, Jocelyn, Ian and Jeffrey. She also leaves her caregiver and friend Wanda King and friend Joe Mezowitcz.Funeral services will be held on Friday February 10 at 10 am at The Federated Church of East Arlington with Reverend Kathleen Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9-10am.In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The Federated Church in care of the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home , P.O. Box 528, Arlington, VT 05250. Funeral services will be held on Friday February 10 at 10 am at The Federated Church of East Arlington with Reverend Kathleen Clark officiating.
