Marilyn B. Kinney, a resident of Fairfield, CT, formerly of South Dorset and Sunderland VT for fifty-three years, passed away Thursday February 11, 2016 at Connecticut Hospice. Marilyn was born in Brockton, MA on June 24, 1932 the daughter of the late Harold Alexander and Grace Viola (Miller) Barnes and attended local schools. While living in Brockton she sang on WBET Radio and was a test cook for Betty Crocker Cookbook. After her marriage to Eb Kinney, she moved to VT and joined Zion Episcopal Church where she sang in the Choir for fifty-two years and was a member of the Altar Guild for forty years. Marilyn was Postmaster of the South Dorset Post Office (on the front porch of her home) and later of the East Dorset and Dorset Post Offices. She loved cooking, painting, quilting, walking, traveling, being by the water, and especially loved spending time with her family. Marilyn volunteered at Martha Canfield Library in Arlington and was an active volunteer and Board member of the Community Food Cupboard in Manchester. Marilyn was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Eb Kinney. She is survived by her children Lynda Kinney of Fairfield, CT, Eb Kinney, Jr. and his wife Gene Ann of Brownsville, VT and Kasi Kinney of Lihue, HI; grandchildren Eb III, Audrey and Kaleigh Kinney; special nephew Dan Nardi and his wife Jean of Rupert, VT and their children D.J., Kendra and Tina; sisters Shirley Schorr of Wellesley, MA, Barbara Bosco and her husband Sam of Bonita Springs, FL and Lois Williams also of Bonita Springs; brothers Harold Barnes and his wife Joan of E. Bridgewater, MA, and Donald Barnes and his wife Ann of Sanford, FL; nieces Cheryl Stillson and family of Manchester, VT and Melissa Klick and family of Sunderland, VT and many other nieces and nephews. A celebration of the life of Marilyn Kinney will be held on April 30 at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Episcopal Church in Manchester Center, VT. There are no visiting hours. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Marilyn's memory may be made to Zion Episcopal Church or Connecticut Hospice, c/o Brewster & Shea Funeral Service P.O. Box 885 Manchester Center, VT 05255 A celebration of the life of Marilyn Kinney will be held on April 30 at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Episcopal Church in Manchester Center, VT. There are no visiting hours.
