Marg died June 4 2017 in Melbourne Florida. She was born on October 13 1926 to Alvin and Alice Carswell in New Britain Connecticut, where she spent her childhood. Marge married Dennis P Sverduk in May 1983 in Manchester Vermont where they lived until they moved to Melbourne Florida in 2015. Marg was married to Oakley K. Porter, former town manager of Manchester Vt. Marg worked at the Fabner Bearing Co, the Corbin Cabinet Lock Co and the Sheraton Hotel all in New Britain Ct. Marge also worked at the University of Maine Restaurant while her husband attended college. In 1954 she moved to Manchester Vt where she work it the Health room of the Manchester Elementary school, until her children went on to High School. Marge also worked at the Merchants Bank as a teller and Vermont Country Store before her retirement. Marg joined the Order of Eastern Star in 1954, a member of Adoniram chapter 22, Manchester. She served several offices before be elected to serve as Worthy Grand Matron for the State of Vermont OES in 1981. She made many of friends during her travel through the state including her husband Dennis (WGP) Marg was a member of the Peru Congregational Church in VT,,and the Global Outreach church in Melbourne. Marjorie was very proud of her two husbands and five sons whom served there country in the armed services , Air Force , Army , Coast Guard and Navy. Marjorie is survived by her husband Dennis, four sons, Oakley Jr. Geoffrey, Gregory and Scott a step daughter Ann Marie and there families 14 Grand children and 24 Great Grand children. She is also survived by a daughter in law Pauline . Marg was predeceased by her 1st husband Oakley, her son William and Great Grand Daughter Courtney , her parents Alvin and Alice, sister Jean Warner, Brother Robert Carswell Services for Marg will be held on June 21 2017 at 1 pm at the Peru Congregational Church, followed by a service by members of the Grand Officers of the order of the Eastern Star, burial will be at the Factory Point Cemetery in Manchester. Donations can be made to Adoniram Chapter # 22 OES, Manchester Center VT. 05255, c/o Brewster-Shea Funeral Services, P.O. Box 885 Manchester Center, VT 05255. Services for Marg will be held on June 21 2017 at 1 pm at the Peru Congregational Church, followed by a service by members of the Grand Officers of the order of the Eastern Star, burial will be at the Factory Point Cemetery in Manchester.
