Mary Esther De Rose

Mary Esther De Rose, 95, a resident of Wilmington, Vermont passed away peacefully on September 11th, 2024. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 21st, 1929 to the late Antoinette (Segreti) and Carlo DeRose.

Mary grew up in New York City and attended Holy Cross School, PS12 and graduated from St. John the Baptist in 1948.

She was employed as the Secretary for Designs for Business, Inc and Architectural Designs Co. in Manhattan. In 1973, Mary relocated to the Bromley area and was employed as the manager of the Mountaineer Lodge until 1977. She spent the next eight years employed by G.S. Precision as the secretary to the President George Schneeberger. In 1986, Mary accepted the position of Secretary at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Wilmington, VT. During this time, she was also employed at Sheila Osler Designs. Mary retired from her various positions in 2002.

Mary loved Vermont, skiing, cool crisp days, fall foliage and soft winter snows. She enjoyed spending her time reading and listening to music. She also frequently visited museums and attended shows at the theater and the opera.

She is preceded in death by brothers Albert (Joan) and Louis De Rose and cousin Joseph Tucci of Wilmington, VT. Mary is survived by her brother, Carl (Dorothy) DeRose, of Williamsburg, VA.  She is also survived by four nephews, one niece, great nephews and great nieces.

The family is extremely grateful to Mary Genella, Therese Lounsbury, Teresa Friol, Julie Lineberger and Joseph Cincotta, Jaslyn and Jadria, Linda Rotolo and the many good people from Our Lady of Fatima Church for their many years of kindness, patience and caring, especially in trying times.

A Mass of Christian Death and Burial will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 10 am at Our Lady of Fatima in Wilmington, VT.
