Mary Stanley

Mary Stanley (Viola Mary Thurber), passed away January 5th at the age of 76, in her home, surrounded by family. Mary was born in Cambridge, New York, the daughter of Henry A. Thurber and Mildred Groesbeck Thurber. Survivors include her four children William Stanley of Vermont, Mike Stanley of Bennington, Vermont, Henry Stanley of North Adams, Massachusetts, Tina Johnson Bennington, VT, sisters, Betty Stanley, Florence Thurber, and Bonnie Krisanda, one brother Henry Thurber, and many, many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her life companion Lucien "Papa Lou" Potvin, her sisters Donna Dodge and Ruthie Stover, along with her grandson Christopher Stanley. Mary was known as Nanny to most and lit up any room with her bright personality and wardrobe, she had a great heart and a love for family, she will be missed by all who knew her. A gathering will be announced in early in the summer
