Matthew Scott Prouty

Matthew Scott Prouty, 57 a resident of Vail Road passed away peacefully Thursday January 22, 2015 at the Rutland Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Matt was born in Bennington on May 4, 1957, he was the son of Raymond B. and Lura (Oldham) Prouty Sr. , he attended local schools graduating from Mt. Anthony Union High School in 1975. He married the former Pamela Krawczyk on July 25, 1981 at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church. Matt had an excellent mechanical ability which he used as a machinist at Sibley Manufacturing, U.S.T. and in his own small engine repair business. He enjoyed working on his classic cars and trucks and shared this passion with his family. He was a regular at area car shows . He enjoyed searching for a good deal at tag sales and flea markets and listening to music. Matt enjoyed joking around, tinkering on just about anything and bartering for a good deal. He really loved spending time with his grandchildren. When he was younger he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was a former member of the Bennington Moose Lodge. He leaves his wife Pamela of 33 years, son Daniel Prouty and wife Andrea, daughters Katie Briggs and husband Shawn and Jennifer Prouty , brothers Raymond B. Prouty Jr. and wife Nancy and Thomas Prouty and wife Rita all of Bennington, granddaughters Genevieve and Paisley Briggs, step grandchildren Rhyse and Wyatt Briggs, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother Larry , sister Lura and grandson Anthony. Funeral services will be held at the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home on Wednesday January 28 at 11am with Reverend Robert Wiseman officiating. .Burial will follow in the Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8pm when the family will be present. Memorial gifts may be made to Moose Heart International in care of Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home, 213 West Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
