Meri Gertrude (Trudy) Myers died peacefully in her sleep at home on March 12, 2021. Trudy was born on July 6, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio to Helen Marie Bolly and Meriam Clay Herrick. Trudy was much beloved for her kindness, her friendliness, her willingness to volunteer her time and her commitment to her church family. Trudy graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1957 where she majored in Spanish and French, was an active member of Tri-Delta sorority and a peer adviser. Upon graduation she and a group of friends spent a summer touring Europe. She then took a teaching job in New Jersey where she met and married Richard Colin MacDonald. In 1968 they moved to East Dorset, VT to raise their family in the beautiful Green Mountains. Trudy traveled to Andover to work at The East Hill Farm School until ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬she took a job as the Administrative Assistant at The First Congregational Church of Manchester. The Church was always central to Trudy’s life. She served tirelessly on the Womens’ Fellowship Committee, and was Clerk of the church from 1971 until 2014 when her health no longer allowed it. Trudy also served her community as a member of The Board of Trustees at both Burr and Burton and Long Trail School, where she also taught part-time Spanish. In 1987 Trudy married her high-school sweetheart Richard Myers. Trudy and Dick loved to travel and spent their retirement driving about the country and visiting friends and family, but her biggest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and then her great grandchildren. The many, many hours they spent with “Oma” was a blessing to all. Trudy lived an incredible life full of love and she and will be carried in the hearts and memories of all she knew. Trudy is survived by her four daughters: Cyndi MacDonald (George Deets), Lori Parker (Chriss), Deb MacDonald (Mandy Mason), and Amy MacDonald (Scott Slager), as well as her brother, Rev. Charles Herrick and his wife Shirley, her sister-in-law Ginny Herrick, her four grandchildren: Kileen Adler, Caitlin Parker, Sarah Parker, and Hannah Parker, her three great-grandchildren: Will, Eloise, and Lexi, her step-daughter Lori Musser and her sons Drew, Alex, and Eric, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Trudy was predeceased by her ex-husband Richard MacDonald, her husband Richard Myers, her brother James Herrick, her grandson George Henry Deets IV, and her son-in-law Scott Slager. Services will be held later on in the summer, when all of her friends and family can gather in her beloved sanctuary at the First Congregational Church.
