Mrs. Barbara A. Littlefield, 94 passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday February 27, 2015 at Rivers Edge Community Care Home. She was born in South Portland, Maine on July 20, 1920, the daughter of Harold W. and Inez (Marguerite) Anderson. She lived in Bennington and North Bennington for many years and had worked at the former Tansitor Electronics (now Vishay) and Union Carbide Corp. ( now Eveready) as secretary to the purchasing agent. She was a member of the Second Congregational Church. During World War II she was a coast watcher on the East coast observing the water for enemy boats.Barbara married Robert V. Bennett June 15th 1946 they had three sons Robert, Stephen and Wayne. They divorced in 1959 and she later married Freeland W. Littlefield. She is predeceased by her husband Freeland ,two sisters Maggie Crockett and Jennie Walker brothers Harold Jr. and Andy Anderson and son Robert.Mrs. Littlefield had resided in Inverness , Florida for 16 years where she was active at the First Presbyterian Church Choir , volunteer at Citrus Memorial Hospital Auxiliary ,served as president of Citrus Water Color Society, Citrus Company Art League and Floral City Garden Club. For a number of years she shared her talents by teaching art. She leaves hers sons and their wives: Wayne and Bonnie Bennett of Merrimack, NH and Stephen and Cheryl Bennett of North Bennington, grandchildren Dale Bennett and wife Maureen, their children Yvette and Colby, Erik Bennett and wife Heidi, their children Madison Rae and Kassidy, Tracy Krulikowski and husband Tim, their children Kyle and Jack, Tori Berry and husband Michael, their children Grace and Anne, Heather Sandquist and husband George, their children Jaedyn and Cruz. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday March 3 at 11am at the Second Congregational Church. Private burial will take place in Forest City Cemetery in Portland, Maine. Memorial gifts may be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad in care of the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home, 213 West Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday March 3 at 11am at the Second Congregational Church. Private burial will take place in Forest City Cemetery in Portland, Maine.
