Mrs. Myrtle Sprague 92, a former resident of Readsboro and North Bennington died peacefully on Friday April 17, 2015 in Bennington. The daughter of Samuel and Margaret (Johnson) Stearns she was born in Danby on September 2, 1922. She grew up in Danby where she attended local schools. Myrtle was married to Gerald Sprague; he died July 22, 1978. She was a stay at home mom for her daughter, Marian and in later years had worked in factories in Readsboro and Jacksonville. Myrtle was a member of the Green Mountain Christian Center. She cherished the time she was able to spend with her granddaughter and great grandchildren, she will be fondly be remembered as an outstanding mother and grandmother. Myrtle enjoyed taking walks, bowling, playing volleyball and while at Bennington Health and Rehab was a regular Bingo player, in addition she enjoyed attending B.P. I. where she enjoyed the activities. She leaves her daughter Marion Crandall and husband Ricky of Bennington, son Leon Croff Rutland , granddaughter Vicky Billings and husband Frank of Bennington, grandson Keith Phelps of Greenfield, MA , great grandchildren Kristina, Shane and Dylan a special caregiver Jeff Kelly as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by siblings Charles Stearns, Alvin Stearns, Elizabeth Quelech and Alice Slater.Funeral services will be held on Monday April 20 at 7pm at the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home with Reverend John Goyette officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5-7pm when the family will be present. Burial will take place in the Village Cemetery in Readsboro. Memorial gifts may be made to the Green Mountain Christian Center in care of Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home, 213 West Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.Myrtle's family would like to acknowledge the staff of Bennington Health and Rehab, Bayada staff and Dr. Angela Wingate for their outstanding care and concern given to her.
