Nancy A Sauter

Nancy A. Sauter, 66, a resident of Benmont Avenue, passed away November 20, 2021 at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation. Nancy was born in Kingston, NY on October 28, 1955 the daughter of the late John and Alvia Dessler Sulpizi. She attended New Rochelle, NY schools and earned her Associate’s degree from Southern Vermont College. Nancy worked as a caregiver at the Bennington School for Girls for many years. She served her country as a member of the United States Army, enjoyed fishing, loved cats and animals and enjoyed listening to the sounds of Prince, David Bowie and Meatloaf. Nancy loved fostering children. Nancy and her spouse Sandy were Vermont State Foster Parents of the year in 2004 raising many foster children from Bennington County. Nancy is survived by her spouse Sandrya Matteson of Bennington whom she married in North Bennington on May 25, 2002, special friend Mitchel Matteson of Bennington, foster children Austin Lauzon of Bennington, Morgan Frazier of Maryland, Wayne Poirer of Pownal, VT and Matt Adams, her god daughter Alicia Acevedo of Hoosick Falls, NY 14 siblings and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her foster son Matthew and one sibling. A time of visitation will be held Sunday afternoon November 28, 2021 from 1-3pm at Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home 213 West Main Street Bennington, VT.
