Nelson Rix

Nelson Everett Rix, 61, a resident of Readsboro, Vermont, passed away December 30, 2017 in Readsboro as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Nelson was born in Newton, MA on January 28, 1956 the son of the late Clayton E. and Charlotte (Longdyke) Rix. He was raised and schooled in Wayland, MA, attended Windham College in Putney, and graduated from Trinidad College in Colorado. Nelson worked as a machinist for various companies over the years, just recently retiring. He was a member of the Readsboro Lions Club and the Sons of the American Legion in Readsboro. Nelson was a caring loving man. He loved the outdoors and was very talented with his hands. He loved animals especially his dog Chance. He could sit on his porch and the tweety birds would come to feed out of his hand. If you needed a favor, ask Nelson. Others came first. He would go out of his way to make it happen. Nelson always had a kind word for most, and was a collector of many things. He had a great sense of humor and a way with words that sometimes left people dumbfounded. He is survived by and had a great love for his sister Deborah Dion and her husband Phil, his niece Angela and her husband Nick, great niece Madeline, niece Laurinda and her significant other Ryan, and "the love of his life" girlfriend Ellen Comai and their quirky relationship. He is also survived by many friends including his closest friend Chris Ellison who he loved like a brother. A celebration of the life of Nelson Everett Rix will be held Sunday January 7, 2018 at 1:30pm at the American Legion in Readsboro. There are no calling hours. The family of Nelson Rix would like to thank each and every one of you for the overwhelming response, including the dedicated people at the accident scene, and all who gave kind words of sympathy and condolences at his celebration of life. All of the volunteers were outstanding. The food and service at the luncheon was awesome. Words cannot express our appreciation. Nelson would have been blown away.
