Nelson W. (Dick) Smith

Nelson W. (Dick) Smith, 85, a resident of Deerwood Hill in South Londonderry, Vermont passed away March 19, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Dick was born in South Londonderry on December 15, 1931. He was the son of the late Nelson M. and Gertrude (Clark) Smith and attended local schools. Dick graduated high school from Manlius Military Academy, then received his Bachelor Degree from Norwich University. In his earlier years, Dick worked for General Electric as a cost analyst. For most of his life he owned and operated Smith, Inc. in South Londonderry. Dick was an avid golfer, loved to travel and enjoyed dining out. He is survived by his wife the former Shirley Langille of South Londonderry, sons Jeffrey Smith and his wife Stephanie of South Londonderry and Scott Smith and his wife Ana of Stamford, Connecticut, daughter Kimberly Tenner and her husband Art of Arlington, Vermont and two grandchildren Eric of Bullhead City, AZ and Tayler of South Londonderry. Dick is survived by a sister, Joan Savina of Londonderry, NH. He was predeceased by a brother Francis, a sister Carolyn Wilcox, and a sister Marjorie Smith. A memorial service for Dick will be announced at a later date. There will be no visiting hours.
