Otto A. Weil, 96, a resident of Chester Knoll Drive, passed away May 1, 2017 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Otto was born in Germany on October 8, 1920 the son of the late Rudolf Weil and Hedwig Weil. After earning his Masters Degree he worked as a Chemical Engineer for Gold Eagle, Inc in Chicago developing automotive products and upon moving to Bennington he worked for MACE. Otto was on the Board of Arts Commission, played Viola for the Sage City Orchestra, was a member of the Bennington Choral Society, active promoting Baroque Music in Bennington and was a Bach lover. Music was his soul. He loved bike riding around Bennington and tutored a math program for the High School. Otto is survived by his daughter Karen Sonnamaker of Chicago, son Alec Weil of Tokyo, Japan, step children Beth McGilvray of Boulder, CO, Ann Gilbert of Tyler, TX, Steve Stevens of Round Rock, TX, Miriam Righter of Wellman, Iowa and Martha Burnette of Lago Vista, TX, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Constance Righter whom he married in Lake Forest, IL in 1983. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 13 at 2:00 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 108 School St, Bennington. Internment will be private. There are no visiting hours. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Otto's memory may be made to The Sage City Symphony, c/o Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home P.O. Box 957 Bennington, VT 05201. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 13 at 2:00 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 108 School St, Bennington. Internment will be private.
