Pamela Debona

November 14, 1942 — December 30, 2022

Pamela DeBona, formally of Dorset Vermont passed away December 30 2022 in Bennington VT. Born in New York City, she received a Bachelor's degree from Goddard Collage in Plainfield Vermont in 1965 and was awarded a Master's degree from Lesley Collage in Boston in 1970. Pam moved to Arlington Vermont with her husband and artist Carl Temper soon after and began her teaching career at the Dorset Elementary School in 1972. In 1986 she received the University of Vermont's Outstanding Teachers Award. Pam's philosophy around teaching was to first help the children feel good about themselves and to be open to possibilities and dreams in order to find the path for learning and growth. Once retired Pamela became an avid gardener of lilies at her home in Dorset with her husband Harold DeBona and graced friends and The Dorset Farmers Market with a very large variety of colorful lilies. Pam is survived by a cousin Joan Sharpe and her family, a niece Allison Cuverwell and her family and 6 step children and their families from her deceased husband Harold DeBona. A memorial service for Pam will be held March 4, 2023 at 11am at the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert. Pam will be remembered for her kindness towards all she met, her sincere love and gratitude for her family, friends and students and for her laughter and joy for life.
