Paschal (Pat) R. Cioffi, 94, formerly of Regency Manor, passed away December 21, 2017 at Rutland Health and Rehabilitation. Paschal was born in Rutland, VT on January 17, 1923, the son of Salvatore and Filomena (Gallo) Cioffi. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Army Medical School (X-Ray Technology), Fort Sam Houston, TX in 1942 and New England School of Medical Technology in 1948. Pat married Helen Olivier on October 5, 1947. They were married for 66 years.Pat was a WWII veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Pacific Theater for 5 years and was stationed in Hawaii and Okinawa with the 75th Station Hospital. After the war, Pat was an X-ray and Lab Technician at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette, Louisiana for 16 years. When he returned to Vermont, he worked for Metropolitan and Allstate Insurance Companies until he opened his own agency, Mid Vermont Insurance Agency, where he worked for 27 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Knights of Columbus, the Italian Club, and the Elks Club. He loved golf, cooking for family and friends, walking and swimming everyday, classical and Broadway Show Tunes. He is survived by his children, Raymond and his wife Barbara of Lady Lake, FL, Christine Leach of Old Orchard Beach, ME, Mary Garofano and her husband Lew of Bridport, VT and James Cioffi and his wife Jane of Grapevine, TX, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen, five brothers, Rocco, Frank, Ralph, Raymond and Tony, four sisters, Mary, Jennie, Rose and Alice, and one granddaughter, Heather Rose. A liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Church in Rutland in the spring. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rutland. There are no calling hours. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Paschal's memory may be made to the Open Door Mission, Veterans and Homeless Shelter, 31 Park St., Rutland, VT 05701.
