Mrs. Patricia G. Lovell, 83, also from Manchester, Vermont, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Monday, March 31, 2025. Mrs. Lovell was born in Manhattan, NY on October 3,1941, the daughter of the late John Brice Goldsborough and Joan Borough Goldsborough.
Raised in Ossining, NY. She was a graduate of Marymount Secondary School, Tarrytown, NY and The University of Vermont with a BA in art and music. After her marriage to her husband, the late Joseph Walter Lovell Jr., they began their lives raising two daughters, settling down closer to beloved relatives in the Hudson River town of Briarcliff Manor, NY. She and her husband enjoyed “fixing up homes”, later retiring to the beautiful Green Mountains of Southern Vermont, renovating an old farmhouse and apple orchard.
Mrs. Lovell was a lifelong artist and landscape painter in various media, predominantly watercolors and oils. She also designed Christmas cards. Her work was exhibited in one-woman and group shows throughout the metropolitan area. Her pieces were also displayed in seasonal juried shows in Southern Vermont Art Centers, and galleries. She was also represented in private collections in the USA, France, Japan, Canada, Mexico and Sweden.
To Patsy, everything was a living canvas!!! Nothing was off limits to her passionate, natural expression to make beautiful everything she touched: gardening, quilting, needlepoint, sewing, and much more! Patricia extended her artistry into her appreciation and flare for culinary creations. She delighted in growing her own herbs. She always had that extra special touch, which extended to her love of music and exquisite piano playing - a family trait passed down from father to siblings, to grandson.
Patsy’s greatest love and devotion was that of her family!!! Her joy was orchestrating family get togethers!!! Family meant everything to her, as she spared no detail to indulge so splendidly in the times we could share together. Her smorgasbord and gravlax were legendary.
Patsy was very devout in her faith, which she leaned on fervently, especially in her last years of life, courageously battling a multitude of debilitating illnesses, never one to complain! She was deeply a woman of prayer, so very appreciative to her church and medical communities, who all were so gracious to closely attend to her delicate needs in the home. The Holy Family Catholic Church, Clemmons, NC, offered her tremendous spiritual and sacramental support throughout the end stages of her illness. Christ Our Savior Parish so wonderfully attended to her in Manchester, VT. Patsy’s daughter and grandson were immensely blessed to share the last segment of her life, all three living closely together. She passed away in the arms and care of dear family and compassionate staff at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist, Winston Salem NC.
In addition to her parents, Patricia is predeceased by her late husband, Joseph W. Lovell Jr., her two brothers, Randal and Richard Goldsborough, and her daughter Karen Lovell Doyle.
Patricia is survived by her brother, Jack Goldsborough, (sister-in-law, Maureen Goldsborough), sister-in-law Shelby Novak.
