After attending Wayne State University, he pursued a career in marketing and advertising for companies including Colgate Palmolive, ADT (where he was a co-inventor of US Patent #4,532,507), and London International/LRC Surety Holdings, where he ended his corporate career as VP of Sales & Marketing. In 1986 Patrick moved to Manchester and became a well known community business leader and personality who, for thirty-five years, regaled his customers with his wisdom, humorous “true” stories, and jokes at Wilson’s Country Clothiers, The Village Valet, the Manchester Laundromat, and all about the town. He was very active in community organizations including a term as President of the Manchester Rotary Club and he was on the GNAT-TV board for eight years--for the last few years of his term he was chair and host of the program “Focus”. He served as the Chair and was a member of the Manchester Planning Commission for seven years. Patrick was Treasurer of Manchester Health Services, and volunteered for the Center for Restorative Justice, Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, the Dorset Players, and covered local events as a Manchester Journal reporter to name a few others. He served a year as the Sunderland Zoning Administrator. He was also a member of the Manchester Ornithological and Biscuit Society at the Quality Restaurant, a founding member of Seamus O’Dowden’s Public House, a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, an avid pool and tennis player, thespian, Master Chili chef, Silver Griffin skier, and deer and bird hunter. He is survived by his loving wife Kathryn L. Fox of Manchester VT, his daughters Kathleen Monroe of San Francisco CA and Joyce Abbott (Rick) of Montgomery PA, his son James Borocz (Lindsay) of Redding CT, a brother Marvin (Mary Pat) Monroe of Novi Michigan, sisters Mary Kay O’Neil and Georgia Monroe and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Hope and his wife Joyce Monroe. Visiting hours and a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 11th at 2:00 PM in the Park House at Dana Thompson Memorial Park with Rev. Wayne Bell and under the direction of Brewster-Shea Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northshire Rescue Squad, the Manchester Fire Department, or GNAT-TV.
