Peter A. Duffany

Peter A. Duffany, Sr. ,73 a long-time resident of Manchester VT, passed away June 19, 2024 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center surrounded by his wife of 56 years and his three children. Peter was born in Woodsville, NH on October 17, 1950, the son of the late Walter and Cecile Beaupre Duffany.  Peter received his education at various schools which lead him to Tinmouth Pond for a square dance where he met his soon to be wife. In October of 1967 he married Joanne Matteson at St. Paul's Church in Manchester Center, VT.

In 2018 Peter retired from rk Miles after 24 years with the company in various roles.  Prior to rk Miles he worked for the Village of Manchester as Road Foremen for 17 years.

Peter enjoyed spending time at camp with family and friends, riding his side by side, visiting with the neighbors, playing cards and sharing stories. Peter loved watching college basketball, especially the Duke Blue Devils.

Peter is survived by his wife Joanne Matteson Duffany of Manchester, children Cecilia Towslee (Mark) of Manchester, Peter A. Duffany, Jr. (Diane) of Arlington, and Wendy Parker (Shawn) of West Pawlet VT, 12 Grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Thomas Duffany in 1969, brother Walter E Duffany and sisters Rose Riggs and Sally Patterson. A Private Graveside service for Peter will be held at Factory Point Cemetery in Manchester. There are no visiting hours but the family invites all to join them at the Fraternal Order of Eagles at 1610 Depot Street Manchester Center VT on July 13th, 2024, from 1pm-4pm.
