Raymond E. Cookson

Raymond E. Cookson, 68, a resident of Waldwinkle Road, peacefully passed away at his home on Monday September 7, 2020. The son of the late Raymond F. and Phyllis (Haire) Cookson, he was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on March 11, 1952. He grew up in Orange, Connecticut where he received his education from Amity High School, Woodbridge and the University of New Haven. Ray had worked as a machine operator at a printing and bindery company. Upon relocating to West Dover many years ago, he worked as a ski lift operator at Mt. Snow Ski Resort. Ray loved the natural beauty of Vermont and will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul. In later years, he was fortunate to find solace attending the West Dover Congregational Church where he found a true and trusting friendship with Pastor Jeremy Kirk who offered unconditional kindness, guidance and understanding. Ray cared deeply for his family and will be missed by everyone. He leaves two sisters, Janet Kasowitz of Milford, Connecticut and Jean Ruggiero of Beaufort, South Carolina and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Robert Cookson and William Cookson both of Grand Junction, Colorado. Ray will be laid to rest in his hometown of Orange, Connecticut at a later date.
