Richard Everett Freeman, 89, a resident of Dorset, VT, passed away Saturday April 14, 2018 at Equinox Terrace after a long struggle with Parkinson's. Dick was born in Morristown, NJ on November 7, 1928 the son of the late Lewis Everett and Claire Giblin Freeman. He graduated from Morristown High School and received his Bachelor's degree from Princeton University. Dick spent his entire 40 year career with Merck & Company. He and his wife Ginny lived in Westfield, NJ before retiring to Dorset, VT in 1997. Dick served on many local boards including the Southern Vermont Arts Center (SVAC), Dorset Field Club, Dorset Library, Dorset Historical Society and United Church of Dorset and East Rupert (UCDER). Dick enjoyed traveling, golf and tennis. He was an avid jazz fan and pewter collector. Dick is survived by his wife Virginia Fogel Freeman of Manchester Center, daughter Lisa (and husband John), son Jonathan (and wife Susan), and grandchildren Alexandra and Rebecca. A celebration of the life of Richard Everett Freeman will be held Saturday May 19, 2018 at 11 am at the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert. Interment will be private. There are no visiting hours. Memorial gifts in Richard's memory may be made to SVAC or UCDER, c/o Brewster-Shea Funeral Home P.O. Box 885 Manchester Center, VT 05255. A celebration of the life of Richard Everett Freeman will be held Saturday May 19, 2018 at 11 am at the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert. Interment will be private.
